A Beginner’s Guide: How to Remove Visual Editor Mode in WordPress on US Domain Center Hosting

WordPress offers users the flexibility to create content using either a visual editor or a text editor. While the visual editor provides a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, some users prefer working solely in the text editor for more control over their content’s markup. If you’re a beginner looking to remove the visual editor mode in WordPress, especially on your US Domain Center-hosted website, this guide is for you.

Step 1: Log in to Your WordPress Dashboard Navigate to your WordPress website’s admin area by adding “/wp-admin” to your US Domain Center domain name in your web browser (e.g., yourdomain.com/wp-admin). Enter your username and password to log in.

Step 2: Access Your User Profile Settings Once logged in, hover over your username in the top-right corner of the screen. Click on “Edit My Profile” from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Disable Visual Editor Mode Scroll down to the “Personal Options” section on your profile editing page. You’ll see a checkbox labeled “Disable the visual editor when writing.” Check this box to remove the visual editor mode from your WordPress editing screen.

Step 4: Save Changes After checking the box to disable the visual editor, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Update Profile” button to save your changes.

Step 5: Verify the Changes Now, when you create or edit a post or page on your WordPress website, you’ll notice that the visual editor mode is no longer available. You’ll only see the text editor, which allows you to work directly with HTML markup.

Additional Tips:

  • If you ever want to revert to using the visual editor, simply return to your user profile settings and uncheck the “Disable the visual editor when writing” box.
  • Keep in mind that disabling the visual editor mode means you’ll be working directly with HTML markup. If you’re not familiar with HTML, it’s essential to proceed with caution or consider learning some basic HTML skills to ensure you can format your content effectively.
  • Removing the visual editor mode can improve your workflow if you prefer working directly with code or if you’re building complex layouts that require precise control over markup and styling.

In conclusion, removing the visual editor mode in WordPress on your US Domain Center-hosted website is a straightforward process that gives you more control over your content creation experience. By following the steps outlined in this guide, beginners can easily disable the visual editor and work exclusively in the text editor when crafting posts and pages. Whether you’re a coding enthusiast or simply prefer a distraction-free writing environment, disabling the visual editor mode can help streamline your WordPress editing workflow.
